Work-life Balance

I went hiking this weekend for the first time in a while, and my muscles are sore from the harder-than-expected course, lol. This time, I will share what I felt while hiking with people from overseas who work and study in Japan.

We were in a group with people from Italy, Germany, Philippines, China, Malaysia, India, Korea, and Japan.

In the group, there was a mix of people who have been in Japan for more than 5 years and those who have only been here for a few months.

A few were full time students studying Japanese at a Japanese language school, while others were currently working in Japan in different fields.

We hiked around exchanging opinions about what they were feeling in their daily lives and what they were thinking at their workplaces.

My first impression was that they were very honest in their work.

I also noticed that they are going about their work to the extent that they are able, while maintaining a good balance between their personal and professional lives.

This may be something that we forget about in Japan, especially if we are not conscious of it.

Of course, they also face daily stress and various challenges individually.

However, there were no people who belittled others or blamed others around them.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence that such people were not present this time.

The students at the Japanese language school also shared with us with smiles that they are trying their best to use Japanese and are enjoying this period of learning.

Some of them had a hard time coming to Japan under the pandemic situation, but in a good way, they are walking strongly.

I also felt that they are enjoying their journey.

I think there are many companies and people who are currently in a difficult and challenging situation.

This is the time to think about how to develop and nurture human resources, which is a company's biggest asset.

I have learned a lot from exchanging views on Japan from an outside perspective this time.

I would like to do what I can do one by one, steadily.

And we also can’t forget to have some fun!

It is now September, and I feel a little autumn in the mornings and evenings here in Tokyo.

And the MONEY version of the Boost Your Efficiency Challenge is entering its second half!

Please take good care of yourselves!

I wish you all a week with a lot of smiles!
