What Accomplishment Feels Like to You

During the Advanced “Boost Your Efficiency” Challenge workshop I held over the weekend, several key themes came up:

  1. What “accomplishment” feels like to you and no one else

  2. The importance of “why”

  3. What specific things to focus on and be aware of.

The topics that came up in the workshop made me reflect on my own “why”s of what I do and my deeper mission statements.

We always hear and talk about success and accomplishing things, but the important thing is that that sense of accomplishment has to be by your own definition and no one else’s. No one else can be a judge of what that is for anyone else.

Especially when it comes to managing tasks, which is what the Boost Your Efficiency Challenge is all about, it’s important to understand what makes you feel that sense of accomplishment as you complete all the things you have to do. From there, you can create little routines and “tricks” for yourself to keep up the motivation to keep going.

Many of the participants in both the basic BYE Challenge and the advanced challenge were able to find their own unique ways to achieve this.

The next important theme was asking “why.” So many people fall into the trap of hyper-focusing on “how” to do things, that they forget why they’re doing those tasks in the first place. This can easily create a state of traffic jam in their own minds.

By first thinking about the “why,” the participants in the challenge tend to realize that they are able to purge and simplify their to-do list so they don’t have as many things to do to begin with. Then, “how” they’re going to do them ends up being a lot more organized.

All of this leads to a better understanding of one’s self and I believe the most powerful answers come from within ourselves anyway.

I got the impression that many of the participants in the Challenge also made powerful transformations and had many “aha” moments by simple awareness shifts and habits.

Also, this time was the fifth round of the regular challenge and the third round of the advanced challenge, and it's interesting how each group is so different! I get excited about this part every time.

What is the sense of accomplishment for you, and why?

The second half of 2022 has already started!

I am gradually updating the programs I offer and planning for future workshops - always learning, moving forward in the spirit of updating and upgrading, even if it’s a little bit at a time!

Japan seems to be getting a break from the heat wave, but please take good care of yourselves.

And for the rest of the world, may this be a week with a lot of smiles on your face!
