Completing to the Best of Your Abilities

I’ve been dealing with a large project since last week, so it’s been a little hectic. I’m taking the entire week off next week from my corporate job, so I’ll get a late summer break. So right now, I’m doing everything I can to get to the finish line before the break.

What does it mean for you to cross the finish line, or to put in your very best to complete something fully? Why do you want to or need to fully commit until the end? What keeps you motivated?

For me, this notion of “doing my very best until the end” is at the very top of my priorities.

That’s because I love the feeling of freedom and accomplishment after it’s done, and of course, I learn so much in the process.

It’s not about being perfect, but for me, it’s about doing the best that I can.

In order to keep my motivation high, I try to prepare different ways to reward myself as well - like going to the theatre, or to the hot springs. When I go somewhere that’s different from my usual environment, I can really stimulate my five senses and feel truly refreshed.

If you don’t complete things to the best of your abilities, how do you feel? Are you able to truly relax and get it out of your mind?

The photo is a traditional mosquito-repelling incense holder; the coiled incense is a familiar scent of summer in Japan. It hasn’t really made too much of an appearance this year but I’m thinking of using it next week during my break to enjoy the last hot days of the season.

I wish you a beautiful week, full of smiles!
