More than One Way to Approach Things

Last weekend, I held a study session on negotiation skills and had lunch with friends who are temporarily back home from overseas. I learned a lot from sharing with people from various industries, and there were many things that made me think. The current economic situation was also a topic of discussion at lunch with my friend.

First, I would like to share some of my impressions from the negotiation skills workshop.

The first thing I felt was the issue of communication.

How well do you communicate what you want to the other party, and do you have a good grasp of why you want to negotiate?

If you are not communicating well, you will not be able to negotiate.

I shared my experience with the participants, focusing on what you can do and what you should be aware of in such situations.

After all, there is more than one way to approach things, and the more options you have, the better.

I myself learned a lot from listening to the participants’ own experiences with negotiating.

I also strongly felt the importance of preparing for the ever-changing work styles of the future by broadening my options while I still have time.

I believe that in order to have more options, it is even more important to understand what you are looking for for yourself.

At lunch with a friend, we talked about the tremendous changes in the current economic situation.

She lives in Germany, and I could tell that she is experiencing it on a daily basis, including many changes in education and employment.

How much choice do we have when these rough times come our way?

I have been keeping my antennas up, but I think I need to extend them even more.

It was a very hot day in Tokyo with the heat wave coming back.

I couldn't help but get a gelato from my neighborhood shop. It's a natural food store, so no sugar and nothing artificial.!

A combination of mango and strawberries…. a perfect summer treat.

Wishing you all a week with a lot of smiles!!
