#187 Evoke the Hero in You

I have had many heroes in my life, since I was a small child. Sometimes they were my parents, sometimes they were characters I admired, and sometimes they were real-life people I admired. The keyword "Hero" came up in my recent inner self work. What does  the word “hero” mean to you?

For me, my childhood heroes were my parents.

As for my mother, she was always close to me and protected me.

But sometimes she would say or do things that would surprise me as a child.

She was my hero because of the admiration I felt for her.

I feel the same way about my father, but I also feel that he protected me from a more objective standpoint.

He is like a hero who appears when it’s necessary.

And these heroes were not just there to protect me when I was a little girl, but also to add depth to my life and create a lasting basis of relationships I would have in the future.

I think I have also shared before that the main character in an action-packed Japanese TV series called "Western Police" was also a hero for me when I was a little girl.

As a five year old, I was fascinated by Detective Daimon, played by Tetsuya Watari, and the Daimon Cops led by him, and I watched the series with a passion.

They beat the bad guys one after another and were so strong! I feel in retrospect that it was that sense of being protected, like there were good guys out there looking out for us.

Then I recently did some inner self work and the words of the song “Hero” came up.

It is a famous song by Mariah Carey, which many of you probably know.

I have felt many things about it myself, so let me share it with you.

There's a hero

If you look inside your heart

You don't have to be afraid

Of what you are

There's an answer

If you reach into your soul

And the sorrow that you know

Will melt away, hey

And then a hero comes along

With the strength to carry on

And you cast your fears aside

'Cause you know you can survive

So when you feel like hope is gone

Look inside you and be strong

And you'll finally see the truth

That a hero lies in you

When I heard this song again, tears naturally flowed.

I felt a new Hero inside of me waking up.

And it is giving me new courage and strength.

What does Hero mean to you?

There is no correct answer to this question.

I am sure that your Hero will deliver the message to you.

It is the middle day of Golden Week in Japan!

I am also taking a paid holiday from my work on the corporate side, so I would like to take this time to talk with my own inner Hero even more.

I wish you all a week with many smiles!
